The call came during a recent event Fortinet, a global leader and innovator in network security, and South Africa’s leading value-added distributor, Networks Unlimited, held to speak to Kenyan-based companies about the security challenges and concerns IT is currently facing.
“Taking online security seriously is no longer the purview of large conglomerates,” said Anton Jacobsz, Managing Director of partner company, Networks Unlimited.
“It is business critical, no matter what your business size.”
IT threats are rampant worldwide.
According to the Verizon Breach Report 2015, in 2014 there were nearly 80 000 security incidents with 2 122 confirmed data breaches reported, 700 million records were lost, representing about $400 million of financial loss to organisations.
Meanwhile, Head of the Fortinet Kenya, Imran Chaudhrey, presented to the attendees on how current IT environment requires a strategic approach against an increasingly sophisticated threat.
Some of the challenges he raised included multiple and legacy solutions, the adoption of new technologies, and the increasing volume and sophistication of threats.
Chaudhrey said Fortinet’s mission was to deliver the most innovative, highest performing network security platform to secure and simplify IT infrastructure.
Fortinet is provider of network security appliances and security subscription services for carriers, data centres and enterprises.
